Last year was the first time we didn’t give out Halloween candy. The neighborhood we’re in doesn’t have a lot of younger children anyway, but two years ago, the majority of the people that came to our door were teenagers without costumes holding gigantic pillowcases who grunt-demanded candy. Forget that.
How about you? Are you staying home and giving out candy this year?

This week is chock-full of amusements: yesterday I met up with the lovely and fun Emily, where we played a million games of Basketball Shootout at Dave & Buster’s.
This weekend Jason & I are going camping after a 2-month hiatus.
And on Saturday we’re going to the State Fair.
What are your plans for Labor Day weekend?

So…the Minnesota Twins seem like they’re not going to win the division this year. I’ll still cheer for them, naturally, but do you guys have any suggestions for other teams I should root for? I’ll take all teams under consideration except for the Yankees and the White Sox.

Ah, Sesame Street. I loved this show. For some reason, I remember an episode where the featured number was 8, and they showed someone painting an 8 on the top of some poor bald guy’s head. Does anyone else remember that episode or did I totally imagine that my favorite show was promoting graffiti on human subjects? [OMG - there's a YouTube video!]
As far as the characters, my favorite was Cookie Monster, just because he was so ridiculously messy and enthusiastic about eating. I had a plush Cookie Monster doll as a kid, and I remember smooshing Oreos into its mouth, even though he didn’t technically have a mouth. That was OK; I really just wanted an excuse to make OMM NOMM NOMM sounds. Today, I act the same way about buffalo wings.
Who was your favorite Sesame Street character?
