Things I discovered in 2011
Pandora and Spotify. In case you don’t know this, I’m a little behind the times. My last job meant I got interrupted a thousmillion times a day, so listening to music? HAHAHHAHHAHA – no. At my current job though, the only person who calls me on the phone is Jason and everyone at the office uses IM instead of coming over to my desk, which is sort of odd but also highly awesome. I used to schlep my iPod back and forth to work until I finally realized, oh yeah – Internet! I prefer Pandora for when I want to discover new music or listen to specific artists, and Spotify for when I want to listen to specific songs.
Minute Maid Pomegranate-Blueberry juice. Ohmygod. If I ever have to stop drinking Mountain Dew, I will replace it with this juice. It’s crazy good, and I have to silently remind myself that “big girls don’t chug from the container” whenever I have this. I discovered it while we were on vacation in Phoenix; they were giving away bottles of it outside Chase Stadium, and I probably spent the rest of the evening annoying Jason in our hotel room by exclaiming, “This stuff is AWESOME! I hope they have it in Minnesota!” every 37 seconds. (Spoiler: They do.)
Pinterest. Whenever I try to explain it to people I think would enjoy it, I always do a terrible job: “It’s like a giant bulletin board where you pin all the things you like from the Internet in one place.” Then they ask what kind of stuff I mean, and I have to tell them my boards have things like bacon recipes, knitted zombie hats and tips for surviving the apocalypse.
Charming Charlie. Necklaces! Organized by color! All under $20! It’s a good thing I bought six more jewelry hooks for my Jewelry Wall™. (I’ll have to provide pictures at some point because seriously, the Jewelry Wall is a work of art. If you are insane for necklaces and sort things by color like me, that is.)
That there is a very good chance Sunny is mentally deficient. The cat is insane. INSANE. She routinely hops up in the space between our basement ceiling and upstairs floor, and travels god-knows-where while meowing loudly. She also cannot be trusted in the kitchen AT ALL if you are cooking, for if you turn your back for ONE SECOND she is either on the countertop trying to lick food off the plates or ON THE HOT STOVETOP trying to lick food out of the pots and pans. She will also steal Abby’s food, Shorty’s food and anything she perceives to be food (lint, bugs, pieces of litter). Sometimes I have to put her in a room and close the door so we can watch a movie in peace, because she starts begging for food at 8:30 and we don’t feed the cats until 9:30. The angriest I get with her is when we get home late and feed her at 1 a.m. or something. The cats get fed again at 5 a.m. so you’d think she’d be happy until then, but NO. The last time I fed her at 1 a.m., she woke me up again at 3 a.m. GRAH.
