things I love right now
The way Shorty dramatically tilts his head when I ask him something, as if he’s carefully considering my request before he responds.
The fact that I now work in the health and wellness industry, which means I am purposely making good decisions like drinking more water, eating consistent breakfasts, taking advantage of the shorter commute by lifting weights in the morning, and parking at the far end of the lot and walking into work (that last one is not my choice actually, but it still counts).
A new workstation that features so many computers and monitors (four!) that it feels like I work at NASA.
The routine Sunny has of climbing into Jason’s lap after dinner, cuddling up just so on his chest, and then extending a paw up to his face, as though she’s claiming him all to herself.
That thanks to the new weed killer I used two weeks ago, the percentage of time I spend on weed removal is down 99%.
When Jason or I “talk” for Shorty, whom we pretend is an enthusiastic entrepreneur. His previous business ideas have included a lemonade stand for dogs (featuring dog treats and water), a Beanie Baby collection featuring his likeness, and a consulting business (he didn’t clarify what type of consulting, however). As a result, he often “asks” Jason or I for various office supplies, such as whiteboards, tape recorders, a cell phone, an assistant, and inexplicably, a bunk bed.
Jolly Rancher popsicles.
The way Abby has graduated from demanding to be lint rolled whenever I’m cleaning to demanding that I brush her with the attachment from the vacuum cleaner.
Summer dresses and the fact that nearly every single one I own is either teal, brown, teal with brown accents, or brown with teal polka dots.
The fact that it is fun for me to be enraged by the following summer nuisances while still enjoying summer: moles, crabgrass, biting flies, mosquitoes, and humidity you have to bust through like a high school linebacker barreling through a banner during Homecoming.

OH! I’m always so glad when I find out other people have conversations for their dog. I do it ALL the time and just assumed I was weird, but then I find all sorts of people do it. Phew, that’s a relief.

Four computers at one workstation!? Awww man that would make me feel so important. Also, I am dying to know about your new job. You give enough snipets to make me very interested (but I’ll respect your need for some privacy-LOL).

That workstation sounds amazing, as do the Jolly Rancher popsicles.
Mind sharing the details on the weed killer? I would LOVE to have 99% less weeding, seeing as how I’m 9 months preggo and still fighting a losing battle with my yard.

@ Laura,
It’s the Roundup Pump and Go, the one with the wand instead of just the regular hand sprayer. You pump the handle 15-20 times to prime it, and then you can use the wand for 3-5 minutes, making it so much easier to spray everything. When the stream slows down, just pump the handle another 15 times and you’re good to go for your next 3-5 minute jaunt through Dead Weedville. Menards has it for about $16. I needed two jugs to get through all of our weeds, but I still have about 1/2 jug left. The weeds have been gone for about 2 weeks and I’m only just now starting to see some new ones.

this post made me feel guilty about my water consumption level today. especially since i’m headed to pole tonight. WHY DID I NOT HYDRATE? WHHYYYY?
chris and i don’t talk for the cats too much, but we do make up many nicknames for them (he refers to oliver nearly exclusively as “chairman meow” or “meow tse tung”) and we will often helpfully place a cat on top of the other’s head, for example, while one is playing a computer game, and announce that they are the recipient of a HeadCat. repeat with chest / back / etc. basically we enjoy dropping cats on one another, it seems.

I just vacuumed Fonz for the first time the other day- Jameson had sprinkled graham crackers crumbs AAALLL over him, and it occurred to me that I could just use the hose attachment on the vacuum to get them off. And… he liked it! Blew my mind. Heh.
