Masthead #52 – just beachy
Thank you for all of your comments about Jason’s accident. I’m really glad he had a doctor’s appointment that very day, so that in addition to the doctor telling him his cold/flu/virus would just have to run its course, he got checked out to make sure he really wasn’t hurt or had suffered a concussion or something. (He’s fine.)
Our insurance company (Liberty Mutual) has been outstanding. Their customer service is amazing, plus the money they’re giving us is enough to pay off the bank loan and put down a nice down payment on a new (to us) vehicle. If all goes well, we should have a new ride on Thursday. Keep your fingers crossed.
Jason and I bet each other on when all of the snow in our yard will finally be gone. The fact that our over/under date is in May depresses me, so I plan on “cheating” by stomping on all the snow piles and spreading them out so they melt faster. Because seriously, the piles by our mailbox? Are easily seven feet tall. That’s going to require a LOT of sunshine. Hence, the masthead. Until the sun (and temperatures consistently warmer than 10 degrees) decides to visit Minnesota with a little more regularity than “small glimpses this week,” I will live vicariously through illustrations.
How warm is it where you live right now?

its 37 degrees here today and it feels like 60 and that i should be wearing shorts, but i wont because we have 9 foot drifts and mountains at the mouths of our driveways which make pulling out into traffic harrowing and if i were to get hit while wearing shorts, i may hate my life…
glad jason is alright!!

It’s 64, feels like 64, where I am, about 5 degrees higher than usual. California (apart from the mountains) never gets too cold. It certainly doesn’t snow anywhere below 2000 ft here ever and usually the snow line is much higher than that!
At my top choice grad school right now, let’s see… 27.5, feels like 17. Very different from both my hometown and my current college town! I might be insane, but I’m thinking a new climate could be fun. (Most people tell me I’ll change my mind when I have to drive in ice and snow. Eek!)
Thinking sunny thoughts for you!

It is so, so nice to hear that 1) Jason is alright, and 2) that your insurance company has stepped up a the time when which they are expected. Also? It makes me happy that their warm fuzzies commercials just might not be a total lie.
Right now it is 28 degrees above zero, and feels pretty damn good. It is supposed to get to -25 degrees tomorrow night, with windchill readings at about -40 degrees. Just like last week.
Beaches, indeed. Serenity now!

It’s 37 right now (9 PM), but tomorrow night’s low is supposed to be 9. Then 12 the following night, then 8.
I hate winter here. Let’s both pretend we’re visiting my mother in Florida. She’s got 71!
Fingers crossed for your new ride.

I was in a car accident the week before Christmas and the person in the van that hit me had Liberty Mutual insurance. Absolutely delightful people to work with. They paid for my rental car for 3 weeks and fixed my vehicle. Glad all is good…except for the snow!
