drowning in a sea of electronic paperwork

Filed under: Work — Shauna @ 2:37 pm

Jason & I were going to take the day off today to attend the Twins game, but we both felt bound by work duties, so we didn’t.

I REGRET THAT DECISION SO VERY, VERY MUCH.

Although, on the plus side, I don’t have time to be angry.

(Note: Most of these emails had no relevance to me, so they were deleted immediately. But still, as a girl who can’t stand having more than 10 emails in her inbox at one time, it was my worst nightmare come true.)

How do you make it through those crappy weeks, where the name of the game is simply Pure Survival?

Me? I have a hunk of fancy cheese in the refrigerator. It might not last through the evening.

  1. Ughhh. I don’t think I have EVER had that many unread emails in my inbox. And, I am anal about cleaning it up. Only top priorities that I haven’t yet addressed stay in there. Right now I have two in there. And that feels like a lot!

  2. That makes me itchy just looking at it.

  3. That makes me very thankful that I’m not working right now and doesn’t exactly give me motivation to look for work. :)

Pure Survival involves me and Tally and lots of couch time with lots and lots of junk food. Junk foods of choice are sour gummy candy of any kind, jelly belly sours, cookies (preferably oatmeal chocolate chip), and for the salty need, pretzel thins.

That hunk of fancy cheese has no chance of survival tonight. Wishing you a smaller Inbox!

  4. I am so glad I’m not the only person who gets twitchy if there are more than 10 or so e-mails in my inbox. Like Jess, if something’s in there that means it hasn’t been addressed!

I’m sorry you’re so busy – I know how much that sucks…personally I cope by bitching a lot. Also, wine.

  5. I read inspirational quotes. The one I liked today was…”Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about learning to dance in the rain.”

  7. Fancy cheese will get you through anything. As long as it’s accompanied by wine.

  9. I hate those massive email days! So stressful!

When we are both having a Busy Week, we turn to microwave meals and frozen pizza. And, uh, dishes may not get done and the mail may not get sorted, but we manage to find a little time to snuggle and talk about our days before collapsing into bed.

  10. Food is always helpful. I usually go straight for the grease, like fries or chips. Luckily my work weeks aren’t usually so stressful. I hope it gets better for you!
