Beyond HomerDome
This past weekend was the last Twins regular-game series at the Dome. Coming into the weekend, with three games left to play, the Twins were two games out of first place behind the Detroit Tigers. Exciting!
On Friday, we chatted with our season ticket buddies for the past two years, bemoaning the fact that the camera guy who blocked our view all year was finally gone. Bye, outfield-blocking, sunflower-spitting visual annoyance! Now we can take pictures:
These guys were so much fun we got seats directly behind them at Target Field next year.
As we entered the Dome yesterday, we received a commemorative certificate claiming we were present for the last regular-season Twins game at the Metrodome. And then we stood in front of the giant number counting down the games to outdoor baseball.
It was a full house: 51,000+.
The Chicago White Sox has already beaten the Tigers twice, but I was still hoping they could beat them again so the Twins wouldn’t have to play a tiebreaker. I even made a deal with AJ Pierzynski that I wouldn’t call him a tool for one year if they won.
Damn.
The Twins won, though:
Look at all that offense! It’s like we’re another team, what with all the hits and multi-run homers and whatnot.
Jason heartily endorses his choice for MVP:
We seriously think TC Bear is the best mascot ever. I can’t even imagine walking around in that costume, but he routinely wins the Major League Baseball Mascot Homerun Derby.
Goodbye, roof! I kind of wish you were part of the new stadium, but oh well. I’ll just have to wear seven coats next year in April.
God, am I pale. Maybe next year I’ll get a tan at Target Field. (And maybe I’ll remember to use sunscreen on my kneecaps.)
Zero regular-season games left until Target Field (not counting that whole tiebreaker game, of course):
Go Twins! Tomorrow is our wedding anniversary, so you know, if you want to get us something, a World Series appearance would be ideal.

that is such a coincidence! i totally just got you guys a world series spot for your anniversary
well.. uh.. how about i will keep my fingers crossed for you?

Those are great pictures. If my husband knew you he’d be totally jealous. He insists we’re making the trek to see the new stadium next year though.

It’s so cool you guys have a hobby you’re BOTH so into. I envy that a little!
And maybe I would get into baseball too, if I looked as cute as you do in a hoodie sweatshirt!

Looks like a great time. Bummer that the new stadium won’t have a roof. Let’s hope for a dry 2010 season!

I am so disappointed I never saw a game in the Dome. But am PUMPED you guys were there for the last game! Wahoo!
I can’t believe you considered making a deal with Pierzynski! I am not surprised he didn’t take it. Jerk.
Go, Twins! Go, Rockies!
