Light and day
This is my favorite time of day, for a few reasons:
1. I’m done with work
2. It’s light out now when I’m done with work
3. And, the light looks like that
It’s so pretty and simplistic: trees made of silhouettes and the sky made of blues, oranges, pinks and purples. I just love it.
I have some kind of tooth issue that I am ignoring, inasmuch as one can ignore shooting pain when chewing on the affected side, random cheek tingling and extreme facial sensitivity. I’m sure it’s nothing.
I am going through my 2nd cookbook looking for new recipes, and it’s called The Newlyweds Cookbook. It’s so sweet and cute and not true to life because the recipes break down the duties, like this:
He does: Cuts the chicken breast into bite-sized pieces…
She does: Brings the chicken mixture to a boil, stirring often…
Whatever. Jason & I get all irritated with each other if we’re both in the kitchen at the same time, because we have a smallish kitchen and it’s not conducive to being toe-to-toe with someone when boiling water and exact measurements are involved. There’s a lot of “excuse me’s” and “watch out, boiling water coming through’s” and “are you sure that’s enough onion powder” comments, and it never ends well. So here’s our version.
Whenever Jason cooks, I:
Play floor hockey with the cats (they’re surprisingly nimble)
And whenever I cook, Jason:
Catches up on emails.
It’s win-win.
My favorite recipe from this cookbook, the one that made me exclaim “WHAT?!?” and curse my laziness at not noticing it sooner: Bacon-Wrapped Chicken in Cream Sauce. Yeah!

You’re going to post that and not even share the recipe???? MEANIE!

Sometimes Torsten chops stuff up for me while I cook, but that’s the extent of it, and he takes the cutting board into the dining room and does it there so as not to get in the way. I am definitely with you on the too many cooks thing.

My mood has so totally improved because it is light out at the end of the work day. What a difference!
Kitty hockey! A. and I must come visit. Especially if you are making Bacon-Wrapped Chicken in Cream Sauce.

That recipe sounds unbelievable. And, honey, you should get that tooth looked at.

N and I are like that in the kitchen too. So generally one will cook and the other cleans up, otherwise the whole situation can go south very quickly.

We were raised by my grandma, who was shooed us away whenever she was busy in the kitchen. She didn’t like anyone messing with her process. Now, I’m the same way. If I’m cooking, get out of the kitchen. I won’t feed you otherwise, but will make you watch while I devour whatever half-assed concoction I manage to finish.

Such a pretty picture! We have a good-sized kitchen and Homer and I still cannot cook together.

Oh god, cutesy cooking directions? WORST!

LOVE the photo. WHERE’S the recipe? I will cook it alone, because not only would my husband and I murder one another if we tried to cook together, my husband can only boil pasta and add carrots, butter and Mrs. Dash to it. It’s not HORRIBLE, but it’s no chicken wrapped in bacon with cream sauce.

get to a dentist now! I have had 13 root canals. You don’t want to go down that road.
