Personal Belief Announcement: The month of January does not need 31 days. I’m thinking more like … 12. In fact, I’m going to write my congressman. I’d write my senator, but those two douches are still fighting over who won the election two months ago.

Tonight we’re going to TwinsFest, which is mainly an excuse for Jason and I to eat Dome Dogs and sit in our season ticket seats and pine for baseball to start. (Interesting fact for baseball nerds: I am friends with Pat Neshek on Facebook – rock!)

What else is going on around here besides nothing? Well, Shorty is still cute.

This ball no throw itself, lady.

Abby is still prone to hiding in the shadows and either appearing in photos as Evil Kitty Redeye or Dark Blob That May Be A Cat, We Won’t Know Until I Photoshop The Hell Out Of This Photo.

Let’s just pretend for the sake of this photo and my crappy editing that this was taken in 1972.

Sunny is still amiable and cuddly and will offer you her belly to pet because she knows nothing makes you smile faster than a giant fluffy cat belly. She also learned to read and would like to present her first book recommendation.

Two paws up for Dewey!

I lost last year’s cribbage tournament and decided it was time to get one of these:

Note how when I win, it’s by two games or something and when Jason wins, it’s by 12394576928375 games. When I ordered this, the customer service guy asked, “What sport is this for again?” HAHAHAHA. Also he said it would ship in three days, unless my “award ceremony was before that date.” Damn, I should’ve had an Office-style award ceremony, complete with paper doves and yogurt lid medals. Opportunity lost!

  1. Shorty IS cute! And yes, you may join me this weekend at Target and Michael’s. I think CT is SLIGHTLY warmer than where you are!

  4. I got my parents Dewey for Xmas. Is it a tear jerker?

I was admiring how short Shorty’s nails are. Does he allow you to trim them yourselves or does the vet have to do it?

  5. This is not the first time you’ve talked about changing the days of the months. Didn’t you propose July 32nd once upon a time?

    Comment by Jess — January 23, 2009 @ 11:36 am

  6. Shelly, Dewey is a tearjerker, but a great book. Also, RE: Shorty’s nails. HAHAHAHHA. We are incapable of trimming them ourselves. The vet did it. We’ve also gladly paid Petco the $8 to do it. ANYONE else can do it, as far as I’m concerned.

Jess: YES. I still firmly believe July 32nd should be implemented. As should July 33rd with this extra day from January. Put the days in the months they will be most appreciated, that’s my (Minnesota) motto.

  9. OK, I LOVE the award plaque. Enough that I now want to find a game to play weekly just so I can get one of those plaques and add to it every year. Now what game should it be…

  10. *Embarrassing Question Alert!*

Is our OTHER senator Amy Klobashar? (I live in MN too). I was having a conversation with friends the other day, and none of us knew FOR SURE. I like to know these things. And I could google it, now that I’m sitting at a computer… Now that I think about it, that would have been waaaaaay smarter than asking you. Oh well.

Also: love 12 day January- let’s add the extra days to June. I’ll sign that letter too, if you wish.

  11. Marie Green,

Yep, it’s Amy Klobuchar, who reminds me SO MUCH of my college freshman RA. Right down to the haircut.

  12. I love your cribbage award. It almost made up for my super terrible day that just kept getting worse. sigh. :-) I agree with Fiona Picklebottom and want to find a sport/game of my own so I can get a plaque! Hehe!

  15. I agree about January being too long. I haven’t gotten paid since before Christmas with the way the pay periods fall, and this month is killer. Another whole week to go, ugh.

    LOVE the plaque! SO AWESOME.

  16. That plaque is awesome! And January needs to slip quietly into the night. Like nonsoccermom, I haven’t been paid since before Christmas either and that just sucks around here.
