friday photos
Our backyard solar light last night. Probably the only area not sullied by pawprints.
The pink roses hand-delivered to me at work by Jason. For no reason. (Other than I am awesome. Him, too.)
Bird prints in the yard, taken by Jason’s mom, Becky.
(This one was also taken by Becky). Note the nice Blue Jay in the background trying to drink some water. And then notice the psychotic cardinal about to tap on the window. RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!
That cardinal is crazy! Birds are weird!

That cardinal IS crazy… I think that is part of the reason I dig birds. They just do these kooky things that make me chuckle. Birds and squirrels.

At my previous job, I used to park my car in the same spot. Each day around 3pm this cardinal would perch on the edge of my car window and look at himself in the side mirror. And then he would start to peck at his reflection in the mirror. He would do that incessantly for hours! I finally started parking in a different location because there would always be a line of bird poop down the door of my car.

Hi Marie Green! I do not have a flickr group. Hmmm…maybe someday I’ll get on that. That will be a 2009 goal. Although I would love to have a nicer camera with a great zoom lens first.

Do you know what brand your solar light is? Our works for crap, but that might be that we have had almost no sun since we put it in.

Me Today, nope I’m way too forgetful to remember to take a picture every day.
Shannon, I don’t know the brand, but we got the lights at Menards and they were the cheap ones. I think you get 6 of them for $19. We actually have 2 sets because the base breaks easily. So we have six in the front yard and the spare ones (only two now) in the backyard.

Great pics! I TOTALLY want to write about this on my own blog, but I can’t because it’s work related. But I can still put it in a COMMENT, right?
So I got a call from a woman today who SWORE that there was a Cardinal with “A MENTAL PROBLEM” that was doing that characteristic window tapping. She kept saying there should be some “exception for birds with mental problems” that she should be able to capture it and keep it as a pet. It was a LONG conversation and I did not ONCE laugh at the phrase “bird with mental problems.”
Is that only funny to me?

That cardinal is seriously freaking me out. They do that? Really? Texas cardinals must be more laid back. I have never seen one anywhere near my window.
