Masthead #27 – smoke signals

So, here’s another last-minute masthead I did, after weeks of laboring over another masthead that ended up looking like a two-fingered, cross-eyed zebra designed it. And do you know where I got the creative inspiration for this?

Buffalo Wild Wings. Yeah, some people’s muse is music or art or poetry. Mine is spicy garlic wings and a UFC fight in the background.

While we were there, I thought of no less than five masthead ideas. If I had a laptop, I would set up shop in one of their restaurants and produce the next great literary novel.

But since I don’t, the world will have to be content with my clip art masterpieces (using the word “masterpieces” very loosely, of course).

Happy 2009!

  1. hee! a pickle fire!

OH hey, guess what my mom got me for christmas? a book about BACON! except it’s not out until may, or something, so technically she pre-ordered me a book about bacon :-)

  2. You are so very clever! Can’t imagine how burning pickles would smell.

BTW, have you ever eaten at the Original Pancake House? They have thick bacon and everything else is wonderful. We prefer the two that are owned by Max McGee’s family.

    How was your New Years?

  3. Alice,

    A book about bacon? Awesome!

    Grimmie,

I have never eaten at the Original Pancake House. Where’s the nearest one?

New Year’s was nice. We went out to dinner, played some games at home, made it until 12:30 and then went to bed. Very low-key.

  5. I think the nearest one to you is right off of 494, in Maple Grove. But I don’t know what that one is like.

We go to the one in Edina, or Eden Prairie, because they are owned by the same person (we started going to the one in Edina over 25 years ago – EP just opened last year).

There is also one in Wayzata – but I am not fond of that one.

  6. One more thing, if you decide to ever try it out, go early – or be prepared for a 45 minute wait. Edina/EP are extremely popular.

    : )

  9. I love all the creative ways you’ve been incorporating the dime recently. Again, it took me forever to find it!
