Somebody needs socks for Christmas

Filed under: Miscellaneous — Jason @ 10:44 am

I haven’t had anything to say for awhile now. Shauna covers it all pretty well, but I think she’d keep this one under wraps.

Not me.

Sunday is laundry day in our household. Every week, nearly without fail, we have between three and five loads. During the winter, Shauna’s loads get larger due to her washing every sweater she owns. Me, I’m still in shorts and t-shirts.

Somehow this week, Shauna had 15 pairs of socks in the wash. Remember now, we did laundry last Sunday, there are only seven days in a week, and Shauna only has two feet.

I do not understand this. At all. Not even a little.

Me? I only had six pair in the wash. Apparently I forgot to wear socks one day.

  1. I change my socks when I go to the gym. They get all sweaty. And sometimes I change them before going to the gym if I wasn’t wearing athletic ankle socks that day. Maybe that explains it?

  2. Jess, you’re assuming I’m working out. :)

For the record, I cannot GET WARM at all lately, so I wore TWO PAIRS of socks at the same time a few times this week. (I’d have worn three pairs if I thought I could still bend my ankle.)

  3. Maybe she had cold feet OR loose shoes? Two pairs would help either situation!

  4. I love this! This is totally something I would do if I lived in a place that cold!

  5. Or did you accidentally wear a pair of Shauna’s socks…

  6. Shauna,
You need to buy some wool socks! I have stolen my husband’s and he is not getting them back until either one of us buys some more. They are great because your feet get nice and warm without the sweat!
    Jason,
I don’t know how you are hanging out in your shorts and t-shirts still. Were you really able to do that today even?

  7. Me Today-
I’m in shorts and a t-shirt right now. Although I am at home in my slippers. This was the first morning that I took Shorty out in the morning in more than shorts and a winter jacket. (I’m not big on taking a lot of time bundling up). I did quit wearing shorts to work in late October.

  8. I bet she doubled up a couple of days because of the cold, like Christina said. I do that.

  9. I only *own* a few pairs of socks, so have to wear them over and over. I really hate socks.

  10. Shauna is obviously wearing socks on her hands. Or she has two hidden feet somewhere that you don’t know about.

  12. Jason, Shauna,
I hope your regular readers (especially those that enjoyed the “Somebody needs socks for Christmas“ post!) read this.

When Jason’s Grandma was at Grandpa’s side non-stop during his last week in the hospital, she sat down at one of the hospital-provided computer terminals for a brief break and went onto your picklesanddimes.com site for the first time ever. She doesn’t own a computer, but said she hears us (other family members) talk about this site and was eager to check it out. She only read a couple of posts before returning to Grandpa’s bedside. One of the 2 posts was the “Somebody needs socks for Christmas” entry.

She laughed at the post! No surprise. It was a funny post.

    But then said . . .
“I have to tell you why I’m laughing so hard about Jason saying he had only 6 pairs of socks in the wash but Shauna had 15 pairs of socks! Almost every week I have Grandpa fold the laundry. Almost every week he says to me ‘I just don’t understand it: every week I fold 6 pairs of my socks and every week I fold 14 pairs of yours!’ He never understood that. So I’d just tell him they must have stayed in the dirty-clothes-pile from last week.”

[But wouldn’t that number eventually catch up or even out or something?!]

Anyway, Grandma enjoyed Jason’s post. And Grandma understands Shauna’s number of socks more than any of us ever will! Oddly, Jason’s 6-pairs-in-7-days is hereditary!
