Good things
- It’s Friday.
- It’s snowing, it’s beautiful and I told Jason, “I’m actually looking forward to winter.” Whether this is a result of the gorgeous, lengthy fall we had or something I will deeply regret saying in January remains to be seen.
- I put on my winter coat today for the first time in months and found nearly $4 in quarters in the right pocket and a $5 bill in the left.
- An Erbert & Gerbert’s just set up shop six blocks from my office. (Think Jimmy John’s, but 15x better.) They are giving out $1 off coupons.
- Sunny snuggling underneath the covers with me this morning, purring into my neck.
- Organizing my finances on Mint.com.
- Jason’s suggestion of chicken teriyaki and white merlot for dinner tonight.
- The new Killers album coming out soon.
- Free hot chocolate at Workplace.
- This seahorse ring I ordered from Etsy.
- Abby’s “talking” in the mornings.
- Starting a great new book.
- Standing outside at 6:15 a.m. with Shorty, seeing him shake the snow off his back and stare at the sky in quiet wonder.
- Burt’s Bees banana hand créme.
- Netflix movies watched snuggled on the couch in a down comforter, as Abby sleeps on a pile of knitted scarves in the craft room, Sunny snoozes on an old rocking chair, and Shorty chews his bone on his fleece blanket.

Nice find! All I found in my winter coat was my spare pair of reading glasses I thought I had lost in the bushes again.
LOVE the new masthead – as usual. You are SO dang creative!!!
Cool ring.
And, I think I will just have wine for dinner. Hm, wish I had some cheetos …
Happy first snowfall.

White merlot? I’m intrigued.
I like that ring but the hand in the picture is freaking me out!

Yours are way better than Martha Stewart’s good things

I always say I’m looking forward to winter too….until it gets here. I went to get my winter coat and then realized that I’d donated it in a pregnant huff of “I hate this stupid coat all it does is collect cat hair” at the end of last season. So I bought a new one with birthday money. There was no money in the pockets.

This made me feel so good, so contented. Thank goodness it is Friday; I can go home an snuggle and ignore pressing issues for a bit.
Mint.com is kind of awesome, isn’t it? I like it, except that my student loans are from a small state bank that they can’t access. My net worth is a tad OFF as a result (but it makes me feel good to see it!). I like that it is called, “Mint,” as well. I feel so damn refreshed after looking at my account status!

Thank you for a lovely, comfy-cozy, feel-good, post.
I feel inspired and in a happy, sentimental mood now. Thanks!

Mmmm…there’s an Erberts & Gerberts 2 blocks from my work, and I go there for lunch A LOT. I love the Narmer on wheat. And I think their sandwich names are awesome.
I kind of wish it would snow up here. But I KNOW I will regret saying that when January gets here and I’m like “Why do we LIVE here? It is SO COLD all the time.”

I am so excited for the next killers’ album. I am a very big fan but what is up with brandon flowers looking all skeletal lately?

it got freakishly warm here today. i was in the supermarket and saw some fancy new winter / xmas teas, and was like “ooh! won’t it be fun to go home and snuggle up with some tea!” …and then i remembered it’s like 70 degrees out. WHAT THE HECK.

I love finding money in pockets! Enjoy your weekend!

That sounds perfect. I’m coming over!
You *almost* make me miss Minnesota in the winter.
And Mint.com? I’m definitely checking that out.

Hmmm mint.com? I will have to check this out. It sounds fantastic! And I’m with the finding-money-in-pockets = good. I also consider found money as FREE money. Like I shouldn’t have to do anything responsible with it because it was already considered lost or spent. It’s one of the best things about doing laundry.

But, wait. How can you write this and NOT mention the “great new book” you started???
*OR* what movies you watched on Netflix?
Detes, please.

Life doesn’t get much better than that! We all need to “stop and smell the roses” from time to time.

Ellie,
I’m reading Vince Flynn’s Extreme Measures. Jason & I love all of his books.
Movies? Let’s see. The last movie I watched was Rob Zombie’s version of Halloween. Yikes.

Really? I do not know Vince Flynn’s stuff. I’ll have to check him out…..
