Let’s do the time warp again
What kind of stupid time warp does today exist in, anyway? It’s 3:30 on a Wednesday in the middle of one of the longest months ever, I have no motivation, and time is passing so slowly that I feel like a target in a shooting gallery: I’m overwhelmed by things I want or need to do, and then PING! I get shot down by feelings of lethargy. I recuperate by procrastinating until I stress myself to action again, upon which point I stand back up with thoughts of productivity and goal-accomplishing on my mind and PING! I’m down again. And yet this day will not end.
The Minnesota State Fair starts tomorrow and both Jason & I took Friday off so we could go to the Brad Paisley concert and gorge ourselves on alligator nuggets (seriously, I love the alligator nuggets SO MUCH). The Thing will be accompanying us this year, which I am strangely happy about. Also, awhile ago my mom sent me an email with the subject, “Hey crazy bacon lady,” telling me that there will be TWO new bacon foods at the fair this year: The Pig Licker (chocolate-covered bacon sprinkled with sea salt) and the Big Fat Bacon (1/3 lb. of fried bacon covered with maple syrup. On a stick, of course). Looks like I’ll have to sample both – in the name of science, naturally.
Also, I hear there will be Pickle Pops: frozen pickle juice in a push-up sleeve. Fantastic. I better start training for my culinary descent into Fair Food Frenzy.
It’s now only 3:39. Alert the media! I have apparently found the Fountain of Youth. It exists here within the bowels of Workplace, where you never age BECAUSE TIME NEVER MOVES FORWARD.

I agree with you on the time warp issue. I even got in late this morning and I feel like I’ve been here for DAYS!
So so so so jealous that you are going to the MN State Fair on Friday. Eat some fried stuff on a stick for me. Man I miss that fair. It’s one of the very few things I would move back to MN for.

I love bacon too, but the 2 new bacon concoctions at the fair are kind of grossing me out!

You just described my life right now to a T. No motivation, too much to do, frozen with so much to do and absolute lethargy. Blech!
But with fried bacon to look forward to what more can you ask?

R U FUCKING KIDDING ME about the Pickle Pops? OMG. I miss the MN State Fair so much. Le Sigh. Try the chocolate covered bacon for me, will ya? Oh, and cheese curds! And pronto pups! ROASTED CORN! GAH GAH GAH…

Dill pickle juice, I hope. Not sure how I feel about chocolate covered bacon. Chocolate = yum. Bacon = yum. Chocolate + bacon = yum yum???? I don’t know about that. Let us know. The maple syrup covered bacon, though, I could get on board with.

Oh my word this was exactly me today. And I do the same thing with the stress build up and such.
Frozen pickle juice…my 14 year old self would have loved to taste that.

I think your Fair Assignment is to report back how many things you can eat on a stick. Because fairs are just lousy with Various Foodstuffs on Sticks.

I feel so emotionally attached to the Minnesota State Fair. You know, I used to live on Como Ave? In a cramped efficiency apartment with a totally TOTALLY sketchy flat-mate who ran a “limo service” slash “pimp daddy service” which started up at midnight. Then I moved over to Carter Ave which was way better and I rented an upstairs bedroom in one of those old houses.
ANYHOW. Since this is obv about ME, I also used to run through the fairgrounds the rest of the year, when everything was shut down and had an eerie ghost town feel. I loved it. Also, parking was a BITCH during the state fair days, but I had a parking pass which made me feel oh-so-privledged.
*sigh*
I miss your lovely, deep fried, served on a stick state.

It’s weird because we are in opposite time warps. Your month is dragging and mine is FLYING and I have so much to do and no time to do it in because how is almost September already?

I am totally stuck in the same time warp here at my workplace. Where an hour lasts a thousand years.
The state fair sounds interesting. Is it bad that I have never been to anything beyond a county fair? Of course the fair in the county where I grew up was supposedly the largest one in Texas…anyway, have fun!

Ugh. Work is going by both insanely fast and yet ridiculously slow. Every day feels like a week…yet all my deadlines are rushing at me…and I have NOTHING accomplished! How is this even possible???
However, I have decided I need to attend your state fair some time just to get all the bacon treats! They sound fantastic! I’m so jealous!

My day was like that, too. Especially the zero motivation part. And I like the State Fair, except that my office is RIGHT NEXT to the fairgrounds, so driving ANYWHERE around my office for that week is HORRIBLE.

I WANT TO TRY ALL THESE THINGS. are they expensive? we just had a “county” fair here (which, in a city? HA HA HA HA HA. it was a carnie fair, basically) but they did have fried oreos. except it was like $4.50. for a fried oreo. i wasn’t sure i wanted one THAT badly.

I’m of the opinion that ANYTHING on a stick at the fair is good eatin’! The chocolate covered bacon is intriguing. Have fun!

The title of this blog reminded me of a Wren and Stimpy episode where they tried to put everything on a stick.
Perhaps their inspiration was MN, after all.
The chocolate covered bacon seems so wrong…
