First crush

Filed under: Miscellaneous — Shauna @ 2:12 pm

When I was about nine, my parents took me and my brother to a Vikings game. I hardly remember anything at all about the game itself, but I remember my dad taking me to get a souvenir. As I agonized over my choices, my eyes lit upon a Miami Dolphins mini pennant.

“Can I have that?” I asked shyly.

“That?” my dad asked. “But it’s not Vikings-related.”

“I know,” I said. “But I really like the Miami Dolphins.”

“Well, this is new. How come you like the Dolphins all of a sudden?”

“Because……(long pause)…………I think Dan Marino’s cute.”

Then I turned a violent shade of red and died of embarrassment. But that pennant stayed up in my room for YEARS.

And I still love Dan Marino.

  7. OMG, I was just thinking about this! They were doing something on Jon Bon Jovi on NRP… I was thinking how embarrassing that I had a poster up of him like FOREVER in my room as a kid and teenager! He was TOTALLY one of my first crushes (one of MANY, I was kind of shy as a kid and totally had crushes on these unobtainable people… that was sort of a set up for a huge disappointment in the real world ;)

I also LOVED Johnny Depp on 21 Jump Street but I remember having a tough time deciding between he and the darker haired guy from that show whose name is totally escaping me and if I were not so lazy I would Google – Johnny usually won if I recall correctly! John Travolta in Grease!!! Kirk Cameron and a very young Leonardo on the show they were on together and I am totally spacing the name of… OH boy. George Clooney when he was on the Facts of Life. OH oh and the boy with the bushy eye brows & the blue blue eyes, Brian Bloom! I distinctly remember keeping a Tiger Beat magazine with Brian Bloom on the cover for years (crap did I just admit that!??!)

  11. The first one that I can really distinctly remember is from the movie “The Great Outdoors”. The one who played John Candy’s oldest son. What was his name? I cannot remember at all. OK imdb help a gal out…Oh yeah Chris Young. I was 14 when that movie came out. Does that make me a late bloomer or what?

  16. @Sarah – My sisters and I watched Newsies ALL THE TIME when we were younger. We had it taped off the Disney channel. I have since bought it on DVD and listen to the soundtrack when I want to belt out the songs. “Open the gates and SEIZE the day…” I personally liked Mush, though (was that his name??). Or David. No idea what their actual names are, though.
