random Friday snippets (now on Thursday)

Filed under: Miscellaneous — Shauna @ 10:02 am

This morning, I passed a guy driving a car who was wearing a motorcycle helmet. I slowed down to double check and yep, that dude in a car is definitely wearing a helmet.

When I refilled my asthma prescription, the pharmacist told me that by 2009, my type of inhaler won’t be made anymore because the propellant is “bad for the ozone layer.” Which makes no sense to me whatsoever because unlike the entire female hockey-haired population of the 80s who coated the entire Earth in a thick crackle of Aqua Net, I am not spraying my inhaler into the air - I am spraying it into my lungs. Should I be concerned about this? That it’s not OK for the environment, but OK to spray into one of my vital organs? Also, the new stuff will cost me four times as much. What the hell, government.

I know most of you don’t care about baseball (and not many of you care about it as deeply as we do), but you’ve got to admit, this play is outstanding. Also, I hate the White Sox (sorry, it needed to be said).

I am using my mind powers to wish my workplace into letting us out early. (Don’t laugh, I have so far wished the following restaurants into existence near my house: Jimmy John’s, Dave & Buster’s and Sonic.) I practiced on the office candy jar and made a single, extremely rare 100 Grand bar appear out of nowhere, so I think I have a good shot.

Have a great 4th, everyone!

  1. It’s true that baseball isn’t constantly exciting (for me), but when there’s an amazing play it’s pretty awesome. Did you see the Jr. League (I think) game where the bat girl made an amazing catch? If not, just type in Bat Girl Catch on youtube. So cool!

Good luck with your mind powers!

  2. I LOVE the new pickles and dimes artwork you came up with. SO CLEVER!

But where’s the bacon on the mobile?????

Hope you and Jason have an awesome 4th.

  3. Okay, we Montanans won’t even wear helmets on our bikes, and he’s in his CAR? Maybe he’s extra-cautious (super-paranoid)? Bizarre.

  4. Can you use your mind powers to make my daughter sleep through the night? Because that would be excellent. :)

The helmet in the car thing is very strange…I really have to wonder what some people are thinking.

    Have a great holiday weekend!!

  5. I have faith in your mind powers. Perhaps after you’ve helped out the workplace, you could focus your immense brain on the weather over the greater Seattle area? We’d like some sun for the fourth of July.

    K thnx bye!

  6. That was an amazing play! Was that from a recent game? I didn’t catch who the players were. Crazy. Also, man in car = crazy. But of a different sort.

Can you just lump my work in with yours on the letting us go early? That would be fabulous.

  7. Becky,

That was from yesterday’s game. Punto and Casilla. It was a noon game, so I didn’t watch it, but MAN, awesome play.

I think I have a shot at leaving a few hours early from work, so I’ll focus on your workplace next. :)

  8. I love Sonic. I’m headed out early today (actually, I’ve already stopped working and am reading blogs) and will send good vibes your way. Have a great weekend!

  9. Last week I saw a guy in full clown regalia driving down the road. Also, could you wish I win the Powerball? Thanks.

  10. By chance did you want to the Astros to win in the 2005 World Series since you hate the White Sox? Ha! Cause we sure did! We didn’t win a single game but were sure glad to finally get there.

We’re big baseball fans, too and also like the Twins. (We’ve been to Minnesota a few times to see friends and the place really grew on us)

My 12-year-old son (a walking baseball trivia guru) said congratulations on the 1987 an 1991 World Series victories! I just showed him the video and we were so impressed. This son is also working on his collection of baseball hats from every single MLB team. He orders most from ebay and is up to about 12 so far. By the way, we loathe the Yankees but he’s still going to get a hat!

  12. That play is RIDICULOUS. I am very impressed. I am equally impressed with your powers of wishing things into reality. If you get the chance, can you wish a Jimmy John’s into existence near our apartment, too?

  13. Your mind powers are extraordinary. I got to leave 45 minutes early on Friday (that’s extremly early around here - last time I got to go that early there was a fire on our floor of the building at 2:30pm, and they BARELY let us go home for the rest of the day). Thanks!

Also, I didn’t win any contests either. I will have to take Swistle’s suggestion and buy MYSELF something! ;-)
