George Clooney reads this blog

Filed under: Miscellaneous — Shauna @ 2:34 pm

Back when I first transferred my old blog entries from LiveJournal to this site, we got maybe 10 readers a month. When I was bored, I would sometimes look up their IP addresses to see if anything interesting came up.

Nothing usually did. Except for the time that the IP address revealed the name of a company, and when I went to said company’s website, it proudly revealed that it was owned by George Clooney.

George Clooney. And then I breathlessly speed-dialed Jason at work and said, “George Clooney possibly reads this website!!!”

And it was hard, so hard, not to run out and get t-shirts printed that said: “We have a blog that may, at one time, have possibly been read by an employee who works for a company affiliated with George Clooney.”

Because even though “George Clooney reads our blog!” fits better on a t-shirt, I know deep in my heart it’s not true.

But I like to pretend it is.

  1. I say hold on to the dream…..he could still be reading

  2. Completely agree with Saly. Never stop dreaming! Ever! Except after you watch a horror movie because that would most likely not be a dream but in fact a nightmare and those are BAD much like Ms. Paltrow.

  5. I LOVE hearing about the random places people read blogs from. (What HAPPENED with that sentence?)

Someone reads my blog from MIT, The Dept. of Homeland Security (ruh roh), and the Army Corp of Engineers.

  6. I get a lot of hits from catholic schools. I don’t know what that means.

  7. MAYBE it IS him. If so, tell him I’d gladly leave my husband and marry him. Johnny Depp is my first choice, but OBVIOUSLY THAT’S not gonna happen. So I’ll settle for George.

  8. Seeing IP addresses can be a dangerous thing. That’s how I found out my ex-husband was reading my blog. It creeped me out enough that I stopped blogging.

  9. You’ve shown great restraint on that t-shirt thing really.

  10. you don’t KNOW it wasn’t him! if i were on a jury i’d TOTALLY find reasonable doubt. it totally COULD HAVE been him!

  11. Hey, George Clooney seems like a laid-back guy with a sense of humor. It’s POSSIBLE he reads this blog every damn day. Totally possible.

  13. I swear, I’m not stalking you today…just no sleep. Anyways, how about a bacon bag? That would be neat.

I’d also like to see your scarf. Or have you posted photos and my foggy brain can’t remember?

  14. Shannon, a bacon bag would be AWESOME.

RE: The scarf. I am about 60% done with it, but I can take some more pictures, therefore guaranteeing that I will mess it up again immediately. IS THAT WHAT YOU WANT? (Kidding! I’ll take some more pics this week.)

  15. Wait….I want to know hwo to look up IP addresses….?

  16. Chelsea,

I use Sam Spade: http://www.samspade.org. It’s temperamental at times and sometimes locks you out if you’re looking up a bajillion IPs (not me), but it’s fairly effective (you’ll get business names mostly, not individuals).

  17. Shauna,

Tell George he’s my FIRST choice to leave my hubby for (take that, jmc!). He will totally leave his hottie for me! HAHA!

  18. I need to get on the ball and start looking this stuff up. Except, I may be in for disappointment.

Also – is it sometimes creepy to see that stuff? I think I’d get all skeeved out…

    Because I am paranoid.

And how about when I confirm one of my worst fears that I did, indeed, accidentally send my blog address to my coworker and that they may be reading up on me? SCARY.

But what if Diane Keaton is reading my blog? I must know.

  19. Artemisia,

I’m laughing at your comment. It’s mostly businesses that show up, so at least you’ll know where your stalkers work!

And for the life of me, I’m trying to find the name of the company that said they were affiliated with George Clooney, because yesterday someone commented (twice) about how he doesn’t own ANY companies, blah blah blah, and then said person didn’t include an email, PLUS they had their IP address hidden. Now THAT’s creepy. (I deleted their comments because people who hide their IP address are scary to me.)
