Masthead #17 – iPod
I really feel bad for Jason, because he had to endure me blathering on about creating this masthead:
Me: Look, I made the iPod from scratch.
Jason: Uh-huh.
Me: Dude, from scratch!
Jason: That’s cool.
Me: I even used the words “pickles,” “dimes” and “bacon” for the menu screen!
Jason: That’s great.
Me: And I added dimes to the musical notes and a shaded pickle behind the iPod so it still stays with the P&D theme!
Jason: Are we done here?
Me: And I created the typography myself, too – from scratch!
Jason: I’m out of here.
Me: From SCRATCH!
I need like 110% validation, too. Like if I say something funny, I need my husband to not only laugh, but to actually say, “Wow, that was an immensely funny comedy jewel you just graced me with. I am so lucky to be married to you!” He never says it though.

I’m like that too, but I don’t even waste my time trying to get my husband to praise me on his own. I tell him, “Man, I’m awesome.” Or, “I ROCK!” etc. etc. And if that still doesn’t satisfy me then I inform him that I need him to praise me. I plead, “Grade me! Grade me!” and he usually snickers and then obliges by agreeing that I’m awesome. I’m such a dork

Alice,
I should clarify that I didn’t make the font in the typography (I think it’s “Impact”), but I created the look that makes it appear all shiny and gel-like.

Something about my firewall, I can never see your mastheads, just the white box with the red x. I will have to head down to my local internet cafe to peruse your handiwork.

Ooooo, from scratch! A.’s eyes glaze over when Adult Swim comes on and I start getting all twitchy and excited when they list the Pantone colors on their ads…

Well, even if Jason is impressed, I THOROUGHLY AM! I don’t even know what it means to make the type from scratch. Like, it means NOTHING to me. And anything I don’t know a damn thing about impresses me to no end.
