My thoughts today, now with pinball action!
Thank you so much for your kind words about my grandpa. He was a great man, and although it was definitely a sad day, the fact that he lived a long happy life helped immensely.
Do you want to know what I learned yesterday? You’d think that when it’s below zero, you don’t need to go to the cemetery for the burial. But you’re wrong, because the cemetery has enough notice to thaw the ground well enough to dig the grave. And the cemetery staff has put down astroturf and a tent to block the fresh-from-Siberia-wind. But it’s still cold, even though you’re wearing a scarf wrapped around your head like a refugee and your husband has long underwear underneath his black dress pants. Then the priest reads really, really fast and everyone is back in their cars in less than 5 minutes. And you promise your cousins and brother that you’ll do your very best to die between the months of April and September (year undetermined) because man, that was cold.
Let’s pretend I’m not the only person to download the theme song from Knight Rider to their iPod.
Jason & I went to St. Croix Casino to play roulette on Saturday. Have I ever told you how much I love roulette? I do. A LOT. Even when I’m losing. It’s the only game where I feel I have a chance, you know? Anyway, unlike last year when I lost all my money right away, this time I played for over 5 hours and only spent $20. And the only reason I quit was because I was hungry.
I want it noted for the record that I realize my car needs to be washed, and I would love to wash it, but since it won’t be above 40 degrees until say, June, I can’t. Stupid winter.
Do you ever get itchy in weird spots when you do certain things? Of course not, you’re normal. Anyway, every time I cough one of my deep, gasping-for-breath asthma coughs as I’m reaching for my inhaler, my right shoulder blade itches. Deeply, like in my nerves. Should I be concerned?

I wish I had Shauna’s luck on Saturday. I played roulette for nearly 5 hours too. If you multiply Shauna’s $20 by 10, you’re getting close to what I gambled away. No complaints though, we had a great time.

I have no idea if you should be concerned. My instinct would be not to worry. But I don’t always trust my instincts. I might be too laid back about that stuff.

After reading your posts about the frozen car locks and garage door, I am super aware of whether it’s warm enough to get a car wash. Mostly, it’s not. Sometime in June the brine that the state of Illinois has decided to coat my car with, will come off.
Again, I am sorry about your Grandfather, but like you said, it sounds like he lived a very full life.

I wouldn’t worry about the itching. I would buy a back scratcher.
My car will not be washed until after Memorial Day, the official day it’s okay to plant flowers.
Again, I’m sorry for your loss, and I’m glad you told us about him. Those thoughts will stay in your heart and keep him alive there.
In my unasked-for opinion, you should switch to blackjack. Better odds for you over the house.

I love going to the casino and playing the cheese ball slots (OMG and nickel slots no less.) I also love when you get free money from the casino as it is your first time there and they want to get the ball rolling (well they would do that in Northern MI anyway!) and you end up spending none of your money and actually walking away $50 RICHER then when you started out the night. I totally LOVE that

Wait. You’re supposed to WASH cars?
I can’t remember the last time I washed mine, but I’m certainly not washing it again until about June.
And probably not. It’s probably just something with the inner movement caused by the cough tickling a nerve in your right shoulder blade. Next time you go to the doctor, ask.

HOW do they warm the ground? Seriously, how?
When my mom was here, she brought pictures of my friend Matt’s funeral, and there was a military honor guard standing with the casket at all times, and standing outside the church during the whole funeral. It was like -5 that day and THEY ARE NOT ALLOWED TO MOVE. Crazy.

I get a weird nerve thing, too. I will scratch one spot and I get a little ping of pain somewhere else. I think it is normal.
My husband’s game is Craps. I suck at everything gambling related.

Winter really sucks where you are. It makes me feel extra guilty to whine about our 40 degree weather over here. Yikes.

I remember the horrible standing outside in the cemetery thing from last January when my grandma died. The wind!
I have a weird nerve thing that whenever Eli starts to nurse (sorry, TMI, whatever) my hands get all painfully tingly for a minute. I was worried about it for awhile, but now I don’t even notice, really. Who knows?

I get weird inexplicable pains and itches CONSTANTLY. My body IS generally effed up though. So it takes a lot to phase me. Which probably makes me NOT a role model for how to deal with this kind of thing.

I’ve been to winter burials, too, and the experiences weighed heavily when I was deciding I’d rather be cremated.
