Tales from the inbox

Filed under: BACON!, Miscellaneous — Shauna @ 1:26 pm

We don’t get a whole lot of emails to Pickles & Dimes, but yesterday we hit the jackpot.

First up from Tessie was an email informing me about the existence of The Bacon Weave. Is this name not fantastic in every way? (Unless you’re thinking of a hair weave, in which case: eeewwww.) I excitedly investigated further and found detailed instructions for making your own here.

(It totally counts as one piece that way, too.)

Next was an email from Edith. She wrote:

Dear Shauna,

I accidentally found your site today while on a google search for something cat-related. Let’s just say the google search was prompted by my 5-month-old calico kitten dragging her little bottom across the carpet and leaving evidence behind. Eeeeewwww! I was not happy.

In fact, my mood was black when I opened up my web browser. But then I came across Pickles & Dimes. And I stayed. And your writing style was so gloriously inviting, that I read on….and on…..and on. And now I am actually smiling, and my blood pressure has returned to normal. And I am casting warm and forgiving glances in my cat’s direction, so I think the day is gonna be alright after all.

I just wanted to say thank you.

Your humor saved my morning. I have bookmarked your blog and will return soon to read more. :)

I am not lying when I say this is the best email I have ever received. To get an unsolicited compliment from a complete stranger who took the time to write just made my entire week. Thank you, Edith.

From now on I’m going to try to thank someone whenever I see something I appreciate or admire.

  1. It must be great to have your blog discovered by a random person.

  2. Awww! Welcome Edith!

Before I had a blog I always felt weird about emailing other bloggers but now I know how much it is appreciated.

  3. Thomas, do you mean a random person like yourself? Heh. Welcome!

Tessie, I know. I emailed Dooce once but felt like an idiot; I had no idea what to say other than, “I think you’re awesome.”
