Good to be back
I ended my perfect week off yesterday by cleaning up cat puke seven times, courtesy of Abby.
Seven times. The first few times (well before 6:00 a.m. of course), we felt annoyance. Then, after incident number #3, we felt bad for her. She’s alright now, but after incident #7, we were almost at Emergency Vet Level.
Completely unrelated, we are almost out of Resolve Carpet Cleaner. (The house is 90% Not Carpeting, and yet nearly every time, she puked on the area rug or the couch or the carpeted stairs or the chair, and almost (before I rudely pushed her off mid-hork) the bed).
Use the hardwood, cat!
Also, completely unrelated, we’re almost out of paper towels.
Anyway, it was a perfect week off and Jason did a great job posting in my absence. I really wish he would do it more often, since it is our site, but I’ll take what I can get.
(For those of you who requested a Jason-version of “My Life: a Children’s Book,” you’ll get it. Out of all the things we do on this site, those entries are the most labor-intensive, and Jason didn’t have time to do it because his workplace is a little more stringent with the whole “working” concept. Stay tuned.)
People at work have been asking me what exciting place I visited for vacation, and they’re visibly disappointed when I tell them, “Nothing. I stayed home. It was awesome.”
But it was. A whole week to myself to do whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted. It was fantastic. I could’ve done a whole YEAR of it and never gotten bored. (Whenever I tell anyone this, they always say, “Oh, I think you’d get bored after a YEAR.” And I always think, “Oh, the HELL I would NOT.”)
I did a lot of napping and picture-taking and reading (4 books) and scrapbooking and knitting and organizing (which is like crack to me) and lunching with a good friend, and it was the best time ever. And at one point, while I was reading in bed under the comforter, Sunny crawled underneath the covers and laid across my hip and when I peeked at her, she was fast asleep with what looked like a smile on her face.
But it’s good to be back.
Mainly because people don’t realize I’m back.

Those people who say that surely I would get bored after a WEEK, MONTH, YEAR alone sorely misjudge me. Yes, they do.
What were the books?

Oh! I can’t wait for another comic book entry.
Also, the horking, I sympathize with completely, although 7 times is enough to punt that cat outside for the day, IMO.

Tessie,
The books were Lullaby and Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk, The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls, and Book of the Dead by Patricia Cornwell, which greatly disappointed me. In fact, it sucked.

Out of those, I’ve only read The Glass Castle (LOVED IT). Do you know that I’ve NEVER read anything by Patricia Cornwell? Not sure why, it SEEMS like she would be right up my alley.
Haven’t read any Chuck Palahniuk either. Wasn’t there some brouhaha a couple of years ago about a horror-type book that he wrote? Hmm, maybe I’m thinking of someone else.
Well, this is the type of comment which really should have been an email. Ah well. TOO LATE NOW and I hope your other commenters enjoy hearing about my reading habits.

Glad you enjoyed the week off. Jason made a mighty attempt, but we could always tell it was him and not you.
Horking cats is bad. Horking on carpet is bad. Stepping into the cold slimy hork in the dark is like a horror movie. I actually have to wash the affected foot before going back to bed.
Where is the kitty jail for horkers?

I have the pleasure of being a stay-at-home mom, and while it’s no walk in the park with the whole “mom” part, the “stay at home” part is fabulous. I’m just like you, I can find countless things to do at home when my time is my own (so I make it be more often than my family probably likes). I could do a year too without getting bored. I’m jealous! Glad you got to do a week at least!

Yay! I’m so excited for the children’s book! You guys are so responsive to your readers’ wishes. It’s great.

LADY. You’re back. That cat is out of control, and you should email me if you want me to help you fix it. Our cats were super pukers before the diet change. Now they aren’t pukers, AND they are cleaner.
Also, the vacation sounds lovely.

Ick! I totally understand about cleaning up pet mess–I’m in the throes of that myself and I’ll just say it sucks! (especially before 6 a.m.) I feel for you!
How did you come up with the name for your blog? It’s attention getting–I like it!
