Some whine for my Cheetos

Filed under: Miscellaneous — Shauna @ 5:38 pm

Things that are annoying me today:

1. The fact that I was wide awake enough to feel obligated to work out.
2. That the video exercise dude promised me “only 10 more seconds” of grueling cardio before nattering on to the chick with the 6-pack abs for at least 30 more seconds, extending my agony for nearly 20 unnecessary seconds; seconds I could’ve used to barf up a lung rather than further damage my heart.
3. That I’m so unaccustomed to exercising I had to pretend to “get a drink of water” so I wouldn’t pass out.
4. My new shoes, one of which makes a crazy stick-clicking noise that can be eliminated only by walking on my tiptoes. Not that I walked on my tiptoes for an extended period of time or anything, that would be CRAZY.
5. The cold. I would very much like to have a fist-to-face conversation with one of those alarmist global warming people right about now.
6. No Cheetos to be found at Workplace.
7. Being overbooked on the work board today, to the point that I was scheduled for 10+ hours. Ha – NO.
8. It is not yet Friday.
9. I am losing our annual cribbage tournament by 23 games.
10. I do not work for one of those companies that gives out huge holiday bonuses.

  1. Bonuses would be awesome, wouldn’t they? Sadly, programs funded by the food stamp division of the USDA frown on bonuses…

    A. and I are trying to teach ourselves cribbage! And it is hilarious! And probably futile.

  2. I LOVE cribbage. My two office friends at my old job and I used to play cribbage every day at lunch. It is one of the very few things I miss about my old job. One of the friends and I recently met up for lunch and had a rematch, though. I lost.

  3. Don’t feel bad about the Christmas bonus thing, I’m pretty sure that really only happens in movies since I know of no one who gets any such thing, and just for the record last year my boss, the sheriff, gave all staff members an envelope with $10 in it. It was a nice gesture, but COME ON.

  4. The shoes! Somehow a little stone has worked its way into the heel of my tall boots, so I now sound like a maraca when I walk!

My husband now has a job that does do the bonus thing, and it’s awesome!

  5. This is why I refuse to do workouts by video . . . the 6-pack women and the chit-chat. Drives me batty.

I know a few people who get hefty bonuses this time of year, and I hate them all.

  6. I used to play cribbage back in the day…you just don’t see much cribbage being played lately, do ya?

I have about 10 hours of work to do today too. So, obviously, HERE I AM. Sigh.

  7. Only people who don’t actually NEED huge bonuses get them. I have a brother-in-law who routinely gets more than his yearly salary as a bonus, and his yearly salary is more than I’ll ever make.

My husband gets a bonus, but it’s a very small one.
