Everybody is sick around here. Not “hey, I can’t believe you said that. That’s sick!” I mean ill. Like the kind of sick that reduces Shauna’s bachelorette to her and one bridesmaid. Although I know they are having fun, that’s just dumb luck.
I was also supposed to go out “drinking” with one of my groomsmen but he called in sick as well. Even I’m trying to pretend that I’m not starting to feel the precursor to a cold.
Everyone at work seems to have something as well. I’m not kidding when I say that. There are three cases of bronchitis and two with pneumonia.
I think it might be best for Shauna and I to lock ourselves in our house for the next week, and avoid personal contact with the outside world. And maybe just eat toast. I’d hate to get a case of food poisoning.
In lieu of actual content and because today started with two cat barf piles right next to the bed, three cat turds outside the litterbox AND a giant brown line of cat unhygienicity on our living room carpet, here’s that Four Things meme:
Four jobs I have had
1. fabric cutter, goldfish wrangler and world’s worst gift wrapper at a Ben Franklin
2. receptionist for city hall
3. unemployment counselor (where no one was ever happy to talk to me - EVER)
4. freelance magazine writer
Four movies I can watch over and over
1. major league
2. the wedding singer
3. morocco
4. 50 first dates
Four tv shows I like to watch
1. the office (I swear Dwight is the fictional embodiment of a former coworker. A coworker who once brought a half-eaten box of cereal to a meeting for his “snack to share”)
2. rules of engagement
3. 24
4. 30 rock
Four places I have been on vacation
1. London (if you go here with an outlet adapter from Best Buy, it will start your curling iron on fire. Just a little advice from me to you)
2. Hawaii (this one time, at band camp? We got to go to Hawaii and I took lots of pictures and then the roll of film was ruined by the idiot film developer)
3. Cancun
4. Vegas
Four favorite foods
1. spicy garlic buffalo wings
2. pepperoni pizza with extra cheese
3. a #16 from Jimmy John’s with regular kettle chips
4. spaghetti with bacon
Four websites I visit daily
1. espn.com (to compile my fantasy FB stats, naturally)
2. nfl.com (same as above; no, I am not crazy, thank you)
3. blogroll
4. brusheezy.com (free photoshop brushes; highly recommend)
Four places I would rather be
1. in a library or bookstore
2. at home napping with the kitties
3. not at work
4. on my honeymoon
Look, I promise this will be the last entry about wedding stuff, but besides, the big day is only 9 days away and then I’ll be gone on the honeymoon, so you’ll finally have blissful, blissful SILENCE.
(Until I bore you with pictures.)
Anyway, we are not having a DJ at our wedding and instead, are using an iPod, which Jason’s music- and tech-savvy dad is hooking up for us with speakers. Last night, Jason and I finished organizing our playlist into a somewhat reasonable “fast song-slow song” order (actually, Jason did most of the work while I “helped” by playing tag with Abby and making sure he didn’t bury Haddaway’s “What is Love” and Heavy D & the Boyz’s “Now That We Found Love” at the end, because I am going to dance badly (on purpose) to them).
For our first song, we were originally going to use Louis Armstrong’s “What a Wonderful World,” but somehow, we ended up hearing Shooter Jennings’ “My Song For You,” and that became our first song.
So…for those of you who are married, what was your first song? And if you’re not married or eloped or didn’t have a dance, what would you like for your first song?
On the menu for my bachelorette party:
SPICY GARLIC BUFFALO WINGS.
