Build me up, buttercup
Ah, there’s nothing like a fresh sandwich made with fresh deli meat, fresh cheese, fresh bread and loads of butter.
Let’s talk about butter, shall we? I am a fan. I am pro-butter. I fully support butter and all of its initiatives.
My affection for butter might have been crushed had I been forced to work my summer job in 1993, where I was supposed to stand in line and hack off the label-ink-stained chunks of butter so they could be remolded. Luckily, I ended up working for city hall instead.
Back to butter. The real stuff – not margarine. I love it. I put it on my sandwiches. I also put it on hot dog and hamburger buns, just like I thought everyone else does. Then I was informed this was not the case and also, I was a freak.
So tell me this: do you butter your bread when you make a sandwich? How about hot dog or hamburger buns? If not, do you use any other condiments, like mustard, ketchup or mayo to lubricate the bread? And if not, what kind of person are you?
I’ve never heard of anyone doing this. I like mustard, ketchup, and mayo, hold the butter please. I might have to try it though, it doesn’t sound too bad.

I am going to have to discuss this with my family, because that’s where I got it from, and I was under the impression EVERYONE put butter on bread.

I am completely different, I don’t like ketchup or mustard on my burger or hot dog. I certainly won’t put butter on either. All though, I don’t mind mayo on my buger.

Oh my gosh!…Is there any other way to make a sandwich! Of course I put butter on one slice of bread and mayo on the other! To be honest, growing up I did put butter on my hamburger bun and hotdog bun, but I probably quit doing that when I had kids. Didn’t want to teach them any bad habits! My mouth waters just thinking about the butter melting in with the ketchup when the warm burger or hot dog hits it. As for other condiments, the more variety the better. Bring on the mustard and the relish!
Now here is something else that I thought everyone did, but I am hearing otherwise. I butter my bread or toast before I put peanut butter on it. Don’t knock it until you try it!
Gotta go….for some reason I’m hungry!

I ALWAYS butter my toast or bread before putting peanut butter on it! Isn’t that what EVERYONE does?!?
