Holiday recap

Filed under: BACON!, Miscellaneous, Pets — Shauna @ 6:10 pm

See what happens when I am on over-the-counter flu medication? Two posts in two hours! Madness!

Christmas was wonderful this year. Maybe it was due to the fact that we only had to travel to 2 Christmases in 2 days, rather than 4. Maybe it was because it was 40 degrees out. Maybe it was the fact that our godson and his brother are the two cutest children in existence. Maybe it was because Jason and I made homemade caramel puffcorn. Maybe it was because the phrase, “wink and lick the windshield” made playing games with my family the funniest thing ever. Maybe it was because we get to take a trip to Vegas this year with Jason’s family. Maybe it was because the flu waited to ambush me until the day after Christmas. Or maybe it was because Jason’s brother and wife got us a ceiling fan for our tent.

Yes. A ceiling fan. For our tent. I so cannot wait to go camping this year.

Because Jason and I are soft-hearted fools, we gave the cats some presents in a mini stocking. Right before we left to drive around and look at Christmas lights, I put a ball and catnip mouse in each of their stockings, which were hung with care a good three feet off the ground on nails in the wall. Fast forward 60 minutes later, when we returned home to discover that a certain feline (Abby) had managed to climb up the wall (Abby), remove the stocking from its nail (Abby), filch the catnip mouse from the confines of the stocking (Abby), lick the stocking thoroughly (Abby), and hide the catnip mouse underneath the couch (Abby). I’m not saying who it was, but we have our suspicions.

I am going to Jason’s holiday party for work, which is being held at a relatively fancy restaurant. Jason was anxiously looking up the menu to make sure he could eat something there, and I think he found something we’ll both be quite happy to ingest: homemade macaroni and cheese – with bacon.

I bet it goes great with Dayquil.
