Restaurant Review: Buffalo Wild Wings

Filed under: Food, Restaurant reviews — Shauna @ 5:37 pm

Anyone who knows Jason and I understands that we will never be called “foodies.” We love food, don’t get us wrong, but we’re definitely not part of the crowd that enjoys dining at a different restaurant every time. And we’re not the couple that goes to places to try unique, hard-to-find items such as herb-encrusted sea tentacles. In fact, we are the couple who frantically tries to find the “regular” bread at Panera, because what’s up with their fancy stuff anyway?

Our simplistic nature toward food is simple: 1) Jason has texture/taste issues with all fruits and vegetables (except for potatoes) and 2) I am part Norwegian.

Needless to say, when we find a place to eat that we both enjoy, we don’t stray too far away. In fact, not only do we continue to frequent the same restaurants over and over, we routinely order the same menu items. (For instance, in high school, I probably ordered the Hot Ham ‘n Cheese from Hardee’s 349872359873 times in a row.)

(We are what brand experts refer to as “loyal customers.”)

One of our favorite low-key places to dine is Buffalo Wild Wings. For some reason, even though my face bursts into flame just imagining eating hot peppers sautéed in Dave’s Insanity Sauce, I can eat BWW’s “Blazin’” wings. I do not know why.

I just know that it’s fun to do with a group of friends, as I calmly devour wing after wing, while my tablemates are drinking every beverage on our (and the surrounding) tables.

Jason and I went there Friday, and I anticipated our arrival all day like a kid impatiently waiting for Christmas. We ordered the same thing we always do: 12 spicy garlic wings (which are neither spicy nor garlicky), 12 sweet BBQ wings, 6 medium wings, and a huge basket of buffalo chips with cheese.

Jason always nicely eats the drumsticks, which I am opposed against, because hello, it’s Buffalo Wild WINGS, not Buffalo Wild Legs.

Our wings were perfectly coated with the right amount of sauce, were crispy in the right places, and were hot from the oven. Perfection. And the buffalo chips? Perfectly baked potato slices covered with gooey, melted cheddar cheese. What more do you need?

Recap:

Service = excellent

Price = excellent

Food = excellent

Atmosphere = good (no shortage of TV screens to watch various sporting events, but air quality suffered from all the bar smokers)

Trivia question difficulty = IMPOSSIBLE

Rating: 4 out of 5 pickles
