CD review: Bon Jovi – New Jersey

Filed under: Music reviews — Jason @ 1:39 pm

I was visiting my favorite used CD store in town the other day, looking for old and new “gems” to add to my collection. Cheapo has the largest selection, and everything is broken into categories, so you know right where to look.

As I’m on my hunt, I stumble across this CD by the artist Bon Jovi. The hipster store clerk lisped to me with his pierced tongue that they are a relatively obscure band. Great, a diamond in the rough.

Once I put this CD in my stereo and gave it a listen, I knew that Bon Jovi would be destined for greatness. Tracks such as “Bad Medicine,” “I’ll Be There For You” and “Born To Be My Baby” will be great anthems in the year 2006 and beyond. Someday, a band like Bon Jovi will break into the big time and maybe even have it in them to headline stadiums, but I don’t want to get ahead of myself. Other songs like “Lay Your Hands On Me” and “Living In Sin” might just give contemporaries of theirs such as The Killers or Franz Ferdinand a run for their money.

The same clerk that helped me find this CD also tipped me off to another hidden Bon Jovi disc by the name of “Slippery When Wet.” Maybe I’ll check that one out too. If any of you have heard of the band Bon Jovi; that’s B-O-N-J-O-V-I, or any of their other releases, please share your thoughts with me. Maybe you’ve seen them in the local dive bar, or on CMT with the girl from Sugarland. I believe they may just be the next big thing. That’s my two cents.
