Quit Smoking – Post #10

Filed under: Miscellaneous — Jason @ 12:03 pm

I already said that I’m going to start limiting my entries so they seem more interesting. Just write the big stuff; milestones, feelings, hard times, etc. This isn’t going to be that interesting.

Last time I wrote I said that I had been cutting down on the gum. Well, this past week I didn’t have a piece. Not one. I didn’t want to say anything about it in fear that I’d jinx myself. I wasn’t quite as cranky last week either.

It’s cool, Shauna and I have both given up our biggest vices, and we are doing great. She hasn’t had a Mountain Dew since quitting either. I am so glad that we did this together, it makes things easier. I’m proud of her too, giving up the Dew is hard, I should know, but she’s pushing through like a champ.

The only thing that I have to watch is eating. That is tough, I have a nervous energy now that I didn’t know I had. I’ve only put on 4-5 pounds (depends on which day I weigh in) through the past 4 weeks. I have to say, that’s not too bad for quitting smoking. I just have to really keep putting a conscious effort into just chewing gum, or not needing anything at all.

Oh, I almost forgot, I threw Shauna and I a “one month anniversary” party. It’s been 4 weeks since we quit. I thought it would be fun to surprise her and have a little fun. So on Sunday morning I decorated the apartment with balloons, streamers, and even made a big sign for the occasion. I got her a gift too, I’m sure she’ll listen to the Xzibit CD for decades to come! She was surprised when she woke up and saw everything. Things like that make me feel good.
